Thinking on your feet
So you have a plan, you got everything lined up, and then it starts raining. Now what??? Do you huddle in your tent and wait for the storm to pass, or do you step back, take a look at what's going on, and try to harness this storm for your own benefit?
You probably know where I'm going with it. This week I had the opportunity to take part in a great event hosted by Synechron. A fun get-together for all their employees in Charlotte. They did a great job, I was there with my team to bring some more value to the event and bring awareness to wellness and health. At about 2:30 it started pouring down on us, everything stopped, all that we worked on got wet. Everyone got under the tents and waited for the rain to pass. Looking at it I faced those 2 options, and I chose the second one.
I looked at the bright side. Now I can have everyone's attention! They don't have a choice, they have to listen, so I reached out for that, and the result was far better than I thought it would be.
It is good to have a plan, it is good to make sure you know what to do every step. And it is vital to be able to respond fast and to be agile. Take what ever is thrown at you and manipulate it to your own advantage. Whether it's with your kids when they put you in a tough bind, at work when a project is not going the way you thought it will, or with your workouts when you need to find what actually works for you.
When you face a wall, look around, there is got to be another way!
